As soon as we approach Sachiura station (Kanazawa Seaside Line )we can see green fences surrounding our school ground. As we leave the station,just beyond the brush and trees ,we can see Namiki junior High school. It is easily accessible from the station and it is only two minutes on foot. Our school song describes the mountains of Bousou which look like they are floating far out on the sea.Similarly, Namiki JHS is located in a scenic area of reclaimed land on the southern part of Yokohama City that used to be part of the sea. We opened the school in 1982 and celebrated the opening by planting gingko trees alongside the streets of the school. We worked in cooperation with the Namiki area community to promote thinking about the New Town. After the 20th anniversary of the school's foundation,we worked on a campaign to revise our school life. The students developed a new charter which states that each student has an original personality and that it is important for them to think about their own ideas and dreams. This student charter was instituted in 2001 and we look forward to passing it down to new students each year.
